Price Bikes: Swiss quality at the minimum price

Products manufactured in Switzerland are usually more expensive than products from abroad. Cheap products from Switzerland sounds like a contradiction. However, the Swiss bike brand "Price" has been proving for years that this need not be the case. At their current location in Uster, Zurich, the makers of Price assemble their bikes by hand, use high-quality components that are matched to each other, and paint them in one of 33 selectable colors if desired. The highlight here is that a Price bike is significantly cheaper than a comparable bike from an international brand.

It is not a God-given law of nature that products made in Switzerland are or have to be significantly more expensive than comparable products from abroad in every case. The proof that this is not the case has long been provided by the makers of the Swiss bicycle brand "Price".

The history of the "Price" brand began over 20 years ago in Mönchaltorf, Zurich. From the ground up, the goal was to offer attractively priced bikes to live up to the brand name, but not at the expense of quality. This marked the beginning of a success story spanning more than 20 years.

Freely selectable component sets
Not only the use of quality components at a low consumer price has "Price" written on the flags, no also the "modular system" of "Price" lives this philosophy. The customer can choose from various components and entire component sets for each bike model and have his bike assembled as desired.

No rip off components
Manufacturers of components such as Shimano, Sram, etc. offer in their portfolios whole brake sets or shift groups in different quality and price classes. which are matched to each other. Unfortunately, there are many brands in the bike industry that do not use whole sets for cost reasons, but mix components from expensive quality sets with components from cheaper sets to increase profit without clearly communicating this to the customer. This is unfair, as the customer often does not even recognize this, and often the manufacturer does not fully disclose this. For example, a bike brand refers to a Shimano XT gears in the model offered, but in fact uses a cheap crank of another set, a cheaper chain or the shifters of a cheaper set such as those of Deore. The result is that you get a bike with an inferior mixed set, but sold against the outside with the quality components.

It is therefore really pleasing to hear that the Swiss brand "Price" deliberately does not go along with this rip-off, but uses uniform components of the same set, after all, these components are perfectly matched by the manufacturer.

Desired color pleasing?
Price not only assembles the bikes at its current location in Uster, but also has its own paint shop on site, which is why the customer is free to choose from 33 colors for each bike, which color the frame should have and this for a small surcharge or without surcharge if he chooses one of the two standard colors.

Made in Switzerland
Despite the English name, "Price" is a purely Swiss brand that designs its bikes itself and carefully assembles them by hand according to customer specifications in the modern production halls at its current location in Uster, Zurich. Trained Swiss mechanics work here at Swiss wages. Wherever possible, the manufacturer makes sure that Swiss products are used and local partners are called in to strengthen Switzerland as a place to work. Despite the numerous special expenses that the Swiss manufacturer must shoulder (higher Swiss wages, higher Swiss infrastructure costs, fair component installation, higher purchasing costs, etc.), "Price" offers its customers bicycles and e-bikes at prices that are significantly lower than those of the often big-mouthed competition from abroad. At "Price", the customer receives genuine Swiss quality at a minimal price.

Price's concept worked from the ground up, and customers who at least knew about it struck in rows, which is why the brand grew steadily in the past. With commitments in sports - the most famous representative is probably Franco Marvulli, who took numerous victories in Swiss championships or the Zurich 6-Day-Race on "Price" - the brand's awareness grew. The early success forced the company behind it, GPR AG, to move from Mönchaltorf to Nänikon and later to Uster. Since 2007, the makers of Price have been working on their sometimes numerous models in their own property in Uster, also selling high-quality components from well-known manufacturers. With a nationwide network of specialist dealers, "Price" reaches its customers in almost all regions of Switzerland.

If you already know Price, you won't be surprised that you don't have to shell out CHF 5,000.00 for a modern e-mountain bike with high-quality components, whereas you quickly have to shell out CHF 7,500.00 for an equivalent e-bike from well-known brands abroad.
