Formula 1: The Chinese Grand Prix in the hands of Red Bull

Max Verstappen takes his fourth victory in the fifth race. The Dutchman also won the Chinese Grand Prix unchallenged and superior. Only Lando Norris is able to break up the Red Bull duo.

If it continues like this, the season runs the risk of becoming boring again, because the winner is always: Max Verstappen on Red Bull. Only in Australia was Ferrari able to triumph and stand up to the “Red Bulls”, but the steam seems to be running out again to be. The spectators also particularly celebrated their compatriot Guanyu Zhou, who is the only Chinese in the Formula 1 circus. For the Chinese, the race was an absolute highlight after a 5-year break from Formula 1 due to Covid 19. After Verstappen had already won the sprint race the day before, he was able to easily start from pole on Sunday and dominate the race; tire changes and safety car phases didn't change that. Red Bull was hard to stop, as Fernando Alonso also found out when he unsuccessfully tried to defend himself against Sergio Perez. In the end, tire changes should have a say again. On lap 20, Valtteri Bottas on Stake had to surrender due to an engine problem. His failure and the difficult recovery of the vehicle resulted in a safety car phase. As soon as the safety car was gone, Lance Stroll decided to mess with Aston Martin Daniel Ricciardo and crashed into the rear of him. For his part, Kevin Magnussen on Haas pushed Yuki Tsunoda out of the race. The safety car devil was on the loose until lap 31. The safety car phase also ensured that Lando Norris at McLaren was ahead of Sergio Perez. Since Perez couldn't get past Charles Leclerc's Ferrari for a long time, Norris was able to gain a big lead. In the end, as expected, Max Verstappen took the victory ahead of a happy Lando Norris and a Sergio Perez, who attributed his third place to the safety car, but that's just Formula 1. Let's hope that things will be more exciting again in the next races.
