Hopeful Beat Feuz

The great hope of the skiing nation Switzerland strengthens the belief in a better skiing future. Beat Feuz believes he is on track to return to the World Cup after protracted knee problems.

Step by step, Beat Feuz, who has an injury to his left knee, is moving along the path that should lead him back to the racing slopes after a forced break of more than 20 months. Despite all the consistency, caution is called for. Overloading could have fatal consequences. Reason and patience are indispensable for the Emmental native if he is to be a top athlete again one day. Feuz has a very good team of coaches around him to ensure that everything runs according to plan.

The first contact person is Sepp Brunner. With the Austrian, Feuz has a coach at his side who is very familiar with working with injured athletes. The Styrian benefits from the experience he gained during his time as Sonja Nef's private coach. Brunner, who was a group coach at Swiss-Ski until last winter, also sees Feuz's steady progress as the result of good coaching. "In Innsbruck it works optimally. The cooperation works excellently." In the Tyrolean capital, Feuz has been training two to three times a week with Markus Antretter, a proven expert. He also works with Antretter for therapy purposes. For further lessons, Feuz travels to Schliersee. At Martin Auracher's practice, which was recommended to him by German slalom specialist Felix Neureuther, he receives therapy every two or three weeks.

Long-term goal Sochi
Feuz has marked the end of November/beginning of December as the first possible date for his comeback. This is when the first speed races of the World Cup winter are traditionally scheduled in Lake Louise in the Canadian Rocky Mountains.
