Strong castles after the 3rd round of the Swiss Sailing Super League

After the races on Lake Zurich, one thing is clear: there is still a lot of movement in the standings, nothing is fixed yet, although the top has now established itself. It seems that the motto "Not advancing is not as bad as relegating" prevails.

On the weekend of September 7 and 8, 2019, 13 races could be held, which once again clearly shuffled the table. With a clear victory of the 3rd round, the sailing club Kreuzlingen (SVKr) with Tom Rüegge, Michael Herrmann, Caro Tanner and Jens Lichtblau could sail to the top of the table. They are currently in top shape. The so far leading clubs of the Romandie - the Société Nautique de Genève (SNG) and the Bordée de Tribord - La Neuveville could nevertheless successfully defend their strong position and form together with Kreuzlingen the leading trio. From today's point of view, it looks as if the three will decide the victory in the league among themselves.

Major changes took place in the midfield and at the end of the table. The Zurich Sailing Club was able to make a mighty leap out of the danger zone. Obviously they did not want to show any weakness at home and sailed as hard as they could. In the end, the result was a fabulous second place, which lifted the Zurich team from the bottom of the table to 8th place, proving that the end of the table is by no means the end. But the Zurichers are still not out of the woods. Things went quite differently for Zurich's neighbors, the Segel Club Enge. A miserable second last place threw the club from 9th place to the bottom of the table. But the last 5-6 sailing clubs still have the chance to save themselves from relegation, but they will have to make a real effort in the last race on Lake Neuchâtel at the beginning of October if they want to avoid relegation. But there everything is still open.

Club Nautique de Pully also turned the tide with a strong 3rd place and thus sailed into the midfield of the Super League. And also the sailing club Cham could shine with a strong 4th place and moved up from 8th to 5th place in the table.

One thing has become pretty clear to all the clubs: The decision will really only be made at the end. From October 4 to 6, 2019, the clubs will sail against each other for the last time on Lake Neuchâtel. Only there will it be decided who will be promoted to the Sailing Champions League and, above all, who will be relegated to the Swiss Sailing Challenge League. This is what makes the Swiss Sailing Super League so exciting that almost all clubs have the chance to decide their own outcome until the very end.
