Ferrari creates new style icons with the Monza SP1 and SP2 models

You don't have to be a Ferrari enthusiast to go into raptures when you see the new Ferrari models Monza SP1 and Monza SP2. Wow, what a sight! Based on design icons of earlier decades and mixed with modern design culture, two unique character models have been created that are unparalleled in terms of design and hit the heart of every car lover. Ferrari has once again outdone itself!

Maranello, September 18, 2018 - Ferrari is unveiling its new Monza SP1 and SP2 models. The special models, which will be produced in limited numbers, form the basis for the new "Icona" model segment, whose design is inspired by style-defining Ferraris of the 1950s. The models are aimed at the passionate collector. The new models are inspired by legendary models such as the Ferrari Barchetta, the Ferrari 750 Monza or the Ferrari 860 Monza, which were created with just one goal in mind: And they achieved this goal and manifested it with numerous victories in sports car world championships of the 1950s, thus decisively shaping the Ferrari myth.

The Monza SP1 is designed as a purebred single-seater and offers a unique driving experience. The second version, the Monza SP2, was designed as a two-seater, which is why the cover is missing and a second protective screen and roll bar are fitted. Here, a passenger can also enjoy the Monza model.

The new Monza models feature a unique design, the best power-to-weight ratio of all Barchettas - thanks to carbon fiber content - and distinctive parts such as the front and rear lights, the wheels or the exclusive interior trim. The engine is the most powerful ever built in Maranello: A twelve-cylinder with a whopping 810 hp, enabling acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.9 seconds.

The absence of the roof and windshield gave designers the freedom to create proportions that are impossible in the conventional Spider. As a result, drivers experience an uplifting sense of speed, like a Formula 1. The upward-opening doors emphasize the classic sportiness of beauty, the hood, which forms a single unit with the fenders and is raised from the rear to the front to , proves the unique design style of the models, revealing underneath an impressive 12-cylinder engine.

As with racing cars, the bodyshell of both models is made of lightweight carbon fiber. Minimal weight and barchetta configuration should guarantee uncompromising sports car handling. One of the biggest challenges in the development of the Monza was to control the air currents in the cockpit even without a windshield. The solution was the patented "virtual windshield" in the trim above the instrument panel and steering wheel. It deflects part of the airflow and ensures driving comfort.

And if all this were not enough, Ferrari has actually created exclusively for the owners of these exclusive models, in collaboration with the luxury brands Loro Piana and Berluti, a collection of clothing and accessories designed to suitably equip the elegant gentleman driver with racing suit, sweater, helmet, gloves, scarf and racing shoes.
