Once upon a time, Cilo was the flagship brand of Swiss bicycles ridden by renowned Swiss professional cyclists such as cycling legend Hugo Koblet and other well-known and successful Swiss cyclists such as Ferdy Kübler or later Beat Breu. Cilo was once the bike brand for Switzerland, especially in the 50s, 60s and 70s. But the company, based in the Lausanne region, went bankrupt in 2002. The name Cilo is then an abbreviation for "Cycles Jean Lausanne-Oron", with the "J" replaced by an "i".

In 2015, the company Colag AG acquired the trademark rights of Cilo. The CEO at the time, Alex Müller, wanted to continue Cilo's glory days. However, in the course of a legal dispute, the company looked for a financial partner and found one in Constellation Capital AG. In 2018, Swiss E-Mobility Group AG was founded through them, which among other things bought m-way and merged it with the then Colag AG, which is why Cilo's trademark rights are now owned by Swiss E-Mobility Group AG. In the process, many people have come and many have gone, but a future concept for Cilo is still not apparent today. Cilo does not have its own factory (anymore) and the Swiss E-Mobility Group short SEMG does not have a design and development department. Currently, the company has the new e-bikes produced by the Accell Group in Italy and is also exposed to this supplier to a certain extent in terms of design. The resulting e-bikes are modern and contemporary, but the leadership culture of yesteryear is still missing. There are new models for 2021, but a company strategy for the future is not known. What future is Cilo heading for? How should production proceed in the coming years? And what market position and image is Cilo aiming for? Should there be racing bikes again and successful cyclists riding Cilo? There is currently nothing left of the glorious past.
