Red Bull Dawn till Dusk in front of Cappadocia landscape

The breathtaking beauty of UNESCO World Heritage Site Cappadocia and its iconic hot air balloons served as a stunning backdrop for the Red Bull Dawn till Dusk, a 35km mountain bike race in the historic Central Anatolia region of Turkey.

The event on October 23 was limited to a total of 300 participants, with men and women tackling enduro, cross-country and downhill disciplines over the course of a grueling day of racing.

The four stages began in the Güvercinlik Valley (Dove Valley) and ended at the centuries-old citadel of Uçhisar Castle, which is located on a rocky outcrop with a wide view over Cappadocia. Participants needed a backpack and equipment such as bottles, Allen rings, pumps and first aid kits for the day-long race. The field started as the famous hot air balloons rose in the morning sun.

The participants started with the rise of the famous hot air balloons in the morning sun and rode first over 5 km with mostly landing sections into the second Love Valley stage, which consisted of a single main track over 3 km and a track where mainly Enduro and XC disciplines were held. The third Red Valley stage started at one of the highest points in Cappadocia and led to the picturesque Çavuşin Castle over about 4 km of winding and technical trails. Riders fought hard to stay awake and strong after a long day of racing, battling their way over steep descents and ramps to the finish at Uçhisar Castle, where they took a well-deserved break.

Greg Callaghan won the men's race with 312 points ahead of Emir Melik Peker and Erol Uludağ, while Ksenia Chernykh won the women's title with 227 points ahead of Sibel Ocalberk and Binnur Ozyilmaz.
