Markus Eder's Ultimate Run

Italian freestyle skier Markus Eder is no stranger to breathtaking feats on extreme slopes around the world. The 2019 Freeride World Tour champion tackled the Ultimate Run from a precarious peak in Zermatt, Switzerland, before finishing his run on the valley floor in Klausberg, Italy. Here's everything you need to know:

-The Ultimate Run begins on the oxygen-deprived peaks of Zermatt, where Eder plunges into a seemingly endless expanse of powder snow, leaps over bus-sized glacier boulders and ice cliffs, and slides into the belly of the glacier before resurfacing above his hometown of Klausberg.

- The 2014 Olympian takes on all types of powder and slopes in the Alps, carving across fresh snow fields and participating in a freestyle session with friends before diving back into the powder to visit the snowy architecture of Taufer Castle and a mining museum.

- Eder, who was able to transform his home ski area Klausberg into his personal dream mountain for the unique film, reveals, "All aspects of freeskiing have fascinated me from the beginning. Sometimes I toy with the idea of skiing and ask myself, 'What if?'"

- Eder, who speaks three languages, took time off from filming to compete in the Freeride World Tour. In his debut season in 2018, he finished second overall, which led to an exciting 2019 in which he won the title with victories in Hakuba and Fieberbrunn with a gigantic 8,700 points.

- Eder made a name for himself in 2010 at the Nine Knights contest and then moved from slopestyle to freeride, starring in Days of My Youth, Fade To Winter and Ruin and Rose.
