Mike Tyson's fight postponement annoys Roy Jones Jr.

Mike Tyson recently postponed the boxing match between him and Roy Jones Jr., which was scheduled for September 12, 2020. He was visibly annoyed, because he now wants compensation for the postponement of the fight, after all, he had canceled important dates for the fight and he is no longer a professional boxer.

Originally, the exhibition fight between boxing legend Mike Tyson (54) and Roy Jones Jr (51) was scheduled for September 12, 2020. However, due to the Corona pandemic that is rampant in the USA, Mike Tyson has reportedly decided to postpone the fight until Thanksgiving, November 28, 2020. He wants to make sure that enough fans can travel and be there. It all sounds quite understandable.

But Roy Jones Jr seems to have taken this sudden postponement the wrong way. He threatens in an exclusive interview with Daily Mailthat he would cancel the fight if necessary if he did not receive compensation for the postponement.

In August, digital platform and viral app Triller, which hosts the pay-per-view bout in Carson, California, announced it was moving it from Sept. 12 to Nov. 28. The move is aimed at taking advantage of the holiday weekend and attracting more viewers to the $49 pay-per-view event.

Speaking to DailyMail.com from his boxing studio at his sprawling ranch in Pensacola, Florida, a visibly upset Jones accused Triller of "making a problem." The long-awaited clash between boxing legends Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. could fall through. He said he would abandon the exhibition fight altogether if he wasn't compensated for the delay's impact on his business. But former four-weight division boxing champion Jones said he was now consulting with his lawyers about the sudden change. For me, it was more about pushing to do it, first of all, because I'm focused and you have to stay focused," he explained. The 51-year-old, who only retired from professional boxing in 2018, said the delay also created a "little problem" for him and his business. 'I had to cancel other things to be out here, it messed up my calendar, I have to change things,' he explained. That's the biggest problem, I'm not a full-time boxer anymore, so I do other things to make an income. If I can't do other things, then I should be compensated for it, because it changes the plans. This is not acceptable'.

We are trying to find a solution. My lawyers are talking to their lawyers and trying to find ways to improve the situation so I can be compensated for it, which is more beneficial for me. But he added, "If there is no reasonable solution, it (the fight) would be over. Why would I change the date and mess up the rest of my year if I agreed to September 12?

The multi-talented Jones, who is also a recording artist, plans to step into the ring to the music of his latest rap single, "Ya'll Must've Forgot - Part II." Jones just signed a music partnership with Brandon Jay, CEO of IMA Music Group, a label distributed by Sony Music/The Orchard. "Music has always been very inspiring to me," explained Jones, who runs a recording studio on his ranch. Music is one thing that is a form of communication ... you have people communicating with each other and expressing their opinions through songs.

Fans can only hope that the fight will go over. Much speaks for it also the video recently on Roy Jones Jr Facebook page.

The four-hour live event will air worldwide with the three-hour main card on Pay-Per-View and PPV streaming at www.TysonOnTriller.com. The fight is the first event in a series produced under Mike Tyson's Legends Only League.
