Hearty cuisine, passionate hosts and reasonable prices in sunny Engadin

With a lot of heart and good taste, Roberto Giovanoli from Engadin and his kitchen team prepare the dishes for his guests at the Hotel Morteratsch. Anyone looking at the plates might think they were sitting in a five-star hotel, but he and his wife, Christina Buchholz from the Valais, run the mid-range Hotel Morteratsch in Pontresina, where hikers, tourists and bikers who have chosen the Morteratsch glacier as their destination meet. A first-class cuisine must be attested to the young chef and hotel operator. Seasonal dishes and these prepared individually for each guest is the motto of the Morteratsch. A hearty burger, a tasty Grisons platter or a sweet Engadine nut cake, which you can also buy in the Morteratsch store, are the products of Roberto Giovanoli's down-to-earth kitchen culture. You may not find any isotonic drinks in the Morteratsch, but there is something proper on the table when you are hungry. And that's a good thing, because if you're hungry, you should eat enough and healthy food, and that's guaranteed here.

Idyllic location and reasonable prices
The hotel is located in the middle of nature near the rushing Morteratsch stream outside Pontresina. Here city dwellers can really switch off and enjoy life in a natural, healthy environment.

The young hotelier couple offers two types of accommodation: On the one hand, the middle-class hotel and main house Morteratsch and next to it the Al Vadret designed in youth hostel style, in which there are only rooms and studios, along with facilities for the bikes such as bike room, washing area and a small workshop. The Al Vadret is still dewy, it was built only at the end of 2012.

The Engadine is known as a jet-setting place and therefore has a reputation for being expensive. That this is not always true, the Morteratsch and the Al Vadret stand for it with room rates that start at CHF 135.00/night and 110.00/night respectively. Idyllic, natural, sunny, friendly and inexpensive, this is also possible in the Engadine.
