On Thursday, with the 12th stage, the first individual time trial in the wine region of Barolo is on the program. The favorites tried not to change the overall standings significantly until then.

The hilly stage from Collecchio to Savona seemed to suit the Australian Tinkoff rider Michael Rogers. On the final descent to Savona, he was able to escape the peloton. With 11 km to go, he had a 38-second lead over his pursuers and saved a full 8 seconds to the finish. After that the peloton followed in a mass sprint.
