Emma Johansson: Petite but mighty

What the petite Swede with her 167 cm height has achieved in terms of placings in recent years is impressive. Hard-working like a bee, unwavering, she endlessly conquers top-5 placings in countless races and currently finds herself in second place in the UCI world rankings among elite road racers for good reason.

Her cycling career actually began on the mountain bike, which she first discovered at the age of 13 and understood that cycling in general was her thing. That's why she also decided to attend Skara's cycling school for four years when she entered middle school. This was the right environment for her to blossom in cycling, as it was easier for her to get to the races and into a social environment that encouraged her and her talent. Since most of her training was on the road, mountain biking was more and more pushed aside and racing on a road bike became her main thing. This initial ambivalence and the switch to road biking is well expressed in the results of her early career. In 2000 she won the title of Swedish Junior Champion in Cross Country, and the following year she repeated the title and also won the title of National Junior Champion on the road in the individual time trial.
