Will Boris Becker be fired early?

German ex-tennis star Boris Becker, who was sentenced in April to 2 1/2 years in prison for insolvency offences and has been in British jail for 7 months, will be sentenced to 2 1/2 years in prison, according to the British "Sun" (probably) deported to Germany and thus released before Christmas.

The Sun writes: The 54-year-old ex-Wimbledon champion was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in prison in April for hiding £2.5 million in assets while bankrupt, but sources say he will walk free next month. A prison source said, "He has embarked on a program that means he will be back home in time for Christmas.

The disgraced star has spent seven months in Huntercomb prison, Oxon. However, he has been included in the early release program, which allows "any foreign national serving a fixed sentence who is due to be removed from the UK to be released from prison and deported up to 12 months before the earliest release date of their sentence." Offenders benefit by being able to deduct up to 135 days from their sentence if they agree to go home.

His former spokesman said, "We are delighted for Boris that he is eligible for early release and will be able to travel to Germany, even though England has been his home for many, many years. "I am sure it will mean a lot to him and his family to be reunited for Christmas.

An Interior Ministry spokesman said, "Any foreign national who is sentenced to prison for a crime will be considered for deportation at the earliest possible date."
