Bode Miller out of the World Ski Championships after a spectacular fall

After a long absence from the international ski circuit, ski warhorse Bode Miller arrived yesterday to shine with a top result at the Alpine World Ski Championships at home. As in his best days, he attacked, knew nothing, headed straight for the gates like no other skier can, and always knew how to stay on track. As a result, he set a clear best time at the second two-axle time with a whopping lead of 0.56 seconds, which would have clearly meant the lead at the finish, but then his left arm unfortunately caught the gate, he got stuck, his body was turned and he crashed spectacularly. It was as if he had conserved his strength throughout the season - he had not taken part in any World Cup race - in order to shine at the World Ski Championships in his homeland, perhaps with the ulterior motive of crowning his glittering career with a World Cup gold medal and perhaps ending it with it, and then this devastating fall - a tragedy for him and his numerous fans.

His fabulous courage and daring were not rewarded that day. No, on the contrary, the fall meant an early exit for him at the World Ski Championships in Beavercreek/Vail, because in addition to a gaping wound on his upper calf, which he can thank the sharp edges of the skis for, his knee was also injured, so that an overnight operation was necessary. It is a pity for such a great skier and sportsman. He didn't deserve that, but maybe just the break in the Ski World Cup was the bit of routine that he was missing at that moment. We don't know. We can only regret the failure of Bode Miller at this point!
