Mike Tyson: "I am Back"

"Iron Mike" is back! For several weeks now, the former youngest heavyweight world champion in boxing history has been sparring and preparing for a big fight, but it was unclear who the now 54-year-old was supposed to fight. Was it all just PR? Now it's out. On September 12, 2020, Mike Tyson will fight Roy Jones Junior in Los Angeles in a show fight over 8 rounds.

For all Tyson fans, this is a reason to celebrate. The former heavyweight world champion, who has a troubled past and always attracts attention with his idiosyncrasies in and outside the ring, always showed up in recent weeks sparring and interviews about a comeback. But one did not really know what to make of it. Was it just a show to keep his numerous fans and followers (12.3 million on Instagram, 5.5 million on Twitter, 16 million on Facebook) happy or was Tyson really serious about it? Now Tyson announces a real fight in about 7 weeks. Mike has already set up a special website for this: https://www.legendsonlyleague.com/.

What is particularly surprising is the good form of Mike Tyson. It seems as if Mike still has the incredible power with which he used to send his opponents to the ground in rows. On the other hand, Roy Jones Jr. is an equal opponent who won 12 world titles in five weight classes between 1993 and 2017, the last one in 2017 (!) at cruiserweight. Roy Jones Jr. is slightly inferior to Tyson in terms of stature, but he is 2 cm taller, has 3 cm longer reach and regularly boxes for a crown despite being 51 years old until 2018. Roy Jones Jr. shows respect for Tyson - "Boxing is a brutal sport, Tyson has huge legs, huge thighs, his arms are huge, his neck is wide, so the fight is very risky, but God is in control of everything" - but even Tyson would do well to enter the ring with respect, because Roy Jones Jr. is a brilliant technician who knows how to impress with 47 knockouts and 66 wins in 75 fights. Underestimating Roy Jones Jr. could be Tyson's biggest mistake.

For all Tyson fans, this is an incredible chance to once again see the beloved champion live in action, whether on location in Los Angels, USA, or on the social media platform Triller, where the fight will be broadcast.
