K2 BFC : Ski boots must be comfortable

To design ski boots that really deserve the name "comfortable" is a real challenge. Everyone claims it, only a few manage it. K2 releases the comfort line BFC 3 years after launching their first ski boots. BFC stands for "Build for Comfort".

by Rolf Fleckenstein

Ski boots are key when it comes to comfort when skiing. Uncomfortable skis do not exist, at least not that I know of, but uncomfortable ski boots felt galore. Therefore, every manufacturer who makes a serious effort to produce a comfortable ski boot is to be thanked. With the four new BFC models, K2 launches this winter comfort ski boots for skiers who want to be free from pressure and pain while skiing.

Features and models

K2 launches a total of four models, two for men and two for women, which differ in appearance, flex strength and some fea-tures. What they all have in common is that they have been designed to be user-friendly. To achieve a high level of comfort, the ski boots were designed with a generous last width of 102 mm. In addition, the toe box was increased, so the toes have more space and they stay warm. A softer material was also used at the instep, eliminating another friction point. Basically, moderate flex strengths between 80 and 100 have been used, which makes the ski boot less hard on the shin. Nevertheless, a good heel hold is guaranteed.

Cuff Alignment, Powerfuse Spyne, Natural Stance
Basically, all models are designed so that you can easily get in and out of the ski boots and that you can adopt a natural posture when, for example, standing in line at the ticket office to buy your ski ticket. The shaft can be adjusted on the inside and outside by 2.2 degrees each (Cuff Alignement), allowing you to adjust the angle to your needs. The Y-shaped component at the rear. of the Power- Fuse SpYne optimizes the movement efficiency forward and backward as well as the stability to the side. All models are equipped with a grippy, replaceable sole that provides good grip when walking.

The more expensive models are also equipped with a walking mechanism, which is operated by the lever above the heel. K2 calls this "Après Mode". Overall, K2's new BFC ski boots appeal to a wide audience that will be looking forward to more comfort. Moreover, the extremely moderate prices will make it shine,
