FMB Worldtour: Rheeder takes gold in Canada

FISE Edmonton was on the agenda last weekend for the riders of the FMB World Tour (FMB=Free Mountain Bike). It was Canadian Brett Rheeder who took the win in front of his home crowd at William Hawrelak Park in Edmonton, Canada, his second win this year in the Gold category. The 23-year-old was able to put in an incredible run and proved once again why he is one of the best riders in his sport.

The dirt jump course with a step-down followed by three jumps was a big challenge for the riders, as strong winds made life difficult for the riders. Already on Saturday, September 17, the 31 riders had to fight with the wind. For this reason, the finals on Sunday had to be cancelled and the results from this semi-final were counted as final results.

In the end, Breet Rheeder carried home gold after an epic run in which he performed a double truck driver (spin on its own axis) from the jump, followed by a 720 cork (double spin in a backflip) and an oppo 720 cork (double spin in the opposite direction in a backflip) and finished with a double backflip. This run earned him 95.00 points and first place ahead of Mehdi Gani (FRA) in second place with 89.33 points and Nicholi Rogatkin (USA) in third place with 87.00 points.
