Eurobike cancels Media Days

Corona crisis leads to cancellation of Eurobike Media Days in Sölden and Frankfurt am Main

Friedrichshafen - Messe Friedrichshafen has decided to cancel the upstream Eurobike media events in Sölden and Frankfurt am Main in 2020. Due to the Corona pandemic and the resulting restrictions, the bicycle industry's novelty tests for media representatives from around the world cannot take place at such an early date. The organizers are still sticking to holding the leading Eurobike trade show in Friedrichshafen from September 2 to 5, 2020. Nevertheless, the trade show organizers have a Plan B up their sleeve, which provides for an alternative staging of the Eurobike on a date at the end of November 2020. A final decision will be made by mid-May at the latest.

It was a decision that the Eurobike organizers could only make with a heavy heart. Both the Eurobike Media Days (scheduled for June 16-18, 2020 in Sölden, Austria) and the Urban Mobility Media Days (scheduled for July 2-3, 2020 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany) will be canceled. "Unfortunately, the Corona pandemic has left us no other choice. In the meantime, Austria is subject to event bans until at least the end of June, and even the early July date in Frankfurt is foreseeably too early for the current industry needs, contact restrictions and travel freedoms. In this particular situation, bundling the presentation of new products within the framework of the Eurobike makes maximum sense," says Eurobike division manager Stefan Reisinger.

Despite the current imponderables, preparations for the 29th edition of the leading trade show on Lake Constance are running largely according to plan. "We are aware that there is currently no guarantee of feasibility for the early September date of the Eurobike. Not only does the actual trade show preparation require lead time, but there must also be dependence on border openings, travel options, availability of passenger capacities, and guest accommodations. For this reason, we have already taken the precaution of blocking a later Eurobike date for the November 25-28, 2020 time window," says Stefan Reisinger, pointing out the organizers' maximum flexibility. "By mid-May at the latest, we will make a decision based on the information available at that time as to whether the Eurobike 2020 can take place as planned from September 2 to 5, or whether moving it back by two and a half months would be a sensible measure. Assessments of the current industry situation and the political framework in a few weeks' time will increase the chance that we can make a decision that is appropriate to the situation and specific to the market."
