Daniel Yule wins the Adelboden slalom race

With four Swiss skiers in the top five after the first run, the Swiss team was excellently positioned for the second run. Will it now be possible to claim a home victory 13 years after Marc Berthod's win was the question. Daniel Yule seemed optimistic.

Daniel Yule seems to be in top form at the moment and very motivated after his victory in the Madonna di Campiglio Slalom. The fact that Tanguy Nef was among the best five Swiss skiers in the first run was a bit surprising. The Frenchman Clement Noel was second after a solid first run, Henrik Kristoffersen was only eighth and was thus very dissatisfied. Marco Schwarz was the best Austrian and finished seventh after the first run.

The first exclamation mark in the second run was set by the German Linus Strasser, who started the second run in seventh position. With his dynamic skiing, he was able to finish sixth in the final classification. Only 14 skiers later, Victor Muffat-Jeandet (FRA) was able to snatch the lead from him with a narrow tenth advantage. Now it was Henrik Kristoffersen's turn. He didn't manage a dream run, but with his courageous skiing he managed to take the lead with two tenths advantage. After Kristoffersen, Marco Schwarz tried his luck. He skied the flat section particularly well, which is why he was in the lead at the second intermediate time. At the finish, however, he was five hundredths short of the lead.

Alexander Khoroshilov, who for once was again among the top ten, could not quite repeat his good performance of the first run. Perhaps he also had problems with the light conditions, because almost the whole track was in the shade during his run. Loic Meillard as the first Swiss among the top five, started strong but lost too much time in the final slope. After him, his teammate Tanguy Nef started the race. He was in the lead until the second intermediate time and showed what potential he has, but then threaded gates later and dropped out. Ramon Zenhäusern lost the lead in the final section and was also behind Marco Schwarz at the finish.

Clement Noel extended his lead to Kristoffersen until the second intermediate time and had a 0.31 second advantage at the last intermediate time. But the steep slope was his undoing and he was eliminated.

As the last runner, Daniel Yule set out to defend his lead of 0.67 seconds. In the upper part of the course he lost only a little, but at the last intermediate time his advantage had melted to 0.16 sec. The spectators with their cheers motivated him and he managed to take home the victory in Adelboden with 0.23 sec. advantage.

Henrik Kristoffersen had a lucky weekend. He finished third in the Giant Slalom after a weak performance in the first run and was almost a bit lucky today that his competitors failed. Marco Schwarz is back on the podium for the first time in his comeback season. A pleasing result for him.
