Dan Tangnes remains coach of the EVZ until 2024

In his first season 2018/19 as Head Coach, Dan Tangnes led the team to the Cup victory and to the playoff final to become runners-up. The qualification 2019/20 was completed as a year earlier on the 2nd place, the playoffs 2019/20 unfortunately did not take place. With the contract extension until 2024, the EVZ relies on continuity and thus sends a clear signal. CEO Patrick Lengwiler: "Dan Tangnes has done an excellent job in the last two years, which is reflected in the results as well as in the development of the players. Dan is and will remain our head coach for the next years. We have common goals, which we want to achieve together."

Dan Tangnes, who was born in Oslo, Norway, spent around ten years in Sweden before moving to Zug, working for both the Linköping and Rögle organizations. The Head Coach is pleased about the contract extension: "I have come to know the EVZ as a highly professional and highly motivated organization. All people, team, staff and management pursue together the success of the organization and subordinate everything to it. It makes me proud to do my part for this and to continue to lead this team."

The integration and promotion of young athletes in the NL team is of great importance to the EVZ. To this end, the EVZ has invested a lot in recent years with the training concept The Hockey Academy and the establishment of its own Swiss League farm team EVZ Academy and laid the foundation. The current 25-man regular squad of the NL team already includes 11 players from the club's own youth development program. "Dan Tangnes is a coach who can and wants to bring players forward. Together, we will shape the EVZ into the best training facility in Switzerland over the next few years and play successful ice hockey at the same time," Patrick Lengwiler continues.

The modalities of the contract took into account that a continuation of the Corona crisis could lead to dramatic changes in Swiss ice hockey. If this should be the case, the contract can be adjusted accordingly in a year's time.
