Mountain biking is becoming increasingly popular in tourism destinations in the Alpine region. More and more regions are taking up this theme for their vacation offers. The large offer does not make it easy for guests to find the right mountain bike region for them. The quality of the mountain bike offers varies greatly. Mountain Bike Holidays therefore developed a seal of approval to help in the booking decision. The aim of this award is to highlight regions that offer a comprehensive range of services for mountain bikers.
The award Approved Bike Area requires a certification process according to a TÜV-approved procedure. The following services are evaluated in the process:
- Preparation of information for mountain bike guests
- Infrastructure and services on site
- Tour & trail offer in the region
What is taken for granted in Switzerland is still the subject of heated debate in Austria and Italy: Mountain biking on hiking trails. The choice of rideable trails is therefore often limited. Not so in the Approved Bike Areas - here are enough trails and paths for unlimited biking fun.
Three regions can call themselves Approved Bike Area in the 2016 season: Nauders at the Reschen Pass, the Salzkammergut and the Tyrol Zugspitze Arena. For the 2017 bike season, more awards are planned on the themes of Easy & Family and Enduro & Parks.
