Andy Murray becomes a superhero

The American sports brand Under Armour has been the official outfitter of tennis star Andy Murray since the beginning of 2015 and has now animated the world number one to become a superhero in the run-up to his return to the grass court tournament in Queens.

London, England June 19, 2017 - Under Armour recently commissioned an acclaimed graphic designer to visualize tennis world number one Andy Murray as a super-hero. The design was intended to showcase his iron will, his unbridled commitment to training and the unparalleled passion with which he always performs on the court. The new Super Hero design will also be seen in many places in London from today (e.g. at the Aegon Championships, at the famous Waterloo IMAX cinema, etc.). Andy Murray is the perfect athlete for this campaign, because whether on or off the court, Andy Murray embodies the ideal type of super-hero. His stamina, his strength and his passion to make the impossible possible are the attributes of a super-hero. Off the tennis court, he looks like a noble knight and takes on a role model persona.

The timing of Andy Murray's super-hero launch at the start of the Queens grass court tournament in particular is perfectly timed: because this is exactly where Andy Murray's brilliance has been on display more often than not, as Murray has won the grass court tournament five times, more than any other male tennis pro in history.
The look of the Super Hero graphic is colored in shades of blue, white and red to pick up the colors of the Union Jack and to do justice to the symbolic figure that Andy Murray takes for the sport of tennis in Great Britain. In addition, the graphic also picks up the latest Under Armour innovation Threadborne technology, which is more than highly appreciated by UA athletes: the textile dries extremely quickly, does not stick to the skin and is extremely lightweight.
Andy Murray was also thrilled with the new drawings: "They look great, I'm totally happy. It's fun to be graphically hyped up to be a super-hero. I'm looking forward to wearing the new outfits on court and getting back on the grass with them. I've always had great support in grass court tournaments, whether it was Queens or Wimbledon. I hope to play a successful grass court season again," Murray continued.
Renowned graphic designer and illustrator David Boller is the acclaimed star behind Andy Murray's new drawings. He is a big star on the scene and has literally drawn Marvel's Spiderman and DC Comic's Batman. The assignment was also great fun for David Boller and, in equal measure, a great honor. "Andy Murray is simply one of the best athletes in the world. The way he plays is impressive, his power, his commitment, his attitude of never giving up a ball - all that makes him a super hero. And that's exactly what I wanted to express with my illustrations: I wanted to portray him as an extraordinary athlete, as a role model for millions of people, and as an authentic super hero of the sport," says David Boller.
