Tiroler Zugspitz Arena: Step by step through paradise

Gliding through the glistening snow at a steady pace Gliding through the glistening snow, breathing in the fresh mountain air, the picturesque panorama of the Zugspitze in the background - cross-country skiing in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena means enjoying nature to the full. Not only experienced cross-country skiers feel at home on the perfectly groomed trails. The region also has numerous easier tours for beginners.

The Austrian, or rather the Tyrolean Alps, are known to be a hotspot for skiers, snowboarders and après-ski fun. What is sometimes forgotten in the process: there are so many more ways to spend your winter vacation in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena! Because away from the groomed slopes and trails, the real nature adventures await. It's not for nothing that more and more active winter sports enthusiasts are discovering cross country for themselves. So, off to the Tyrolean Arena - and off to the cross-country trails!

Nestled between the Wetterstein massif, Sonnenspitze, Grubigstein and the imposing Zugspitze, cross-country skiers will find a unique winter sports arena here. The well-developed network of cross-country ski trails extends over 131 kilometers - varied and suitable for both ambitious athletes and hobby sports enthusiasts. Lovers of classic cross-country skiing or the skating variant are also equally well served in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena. There are no less than 28 different cross-country trails to choose from in the seven towns. The spectrum ranges from the easy, one and a half kilometer long Heiterwang lake trail to the sporty challenge on the difficult high-altitude trail on the Ehrwalder Alm. The latter not only ensures guaranteed snow, but also enchanting views.

What will it be: Golf, mountain or biathlon tour?
The snow-covered golf course in Ehrwald - right at the foot of the Zugspitze - or the particularly impressive Kelmerfeld circular trail in Berwang, the highest village in the region, are very popular with beginners and connoisseurs alike. Here you turn your rounds at an altitude of 1,340 meters. Both routes lead through flat, relatively easy terrain - gliding through the winter landscape and the intact nature can thus be enjoyed to the fullest. Those who prefer more varied, undulating trails will feel at home on the Biberwier Weissensee trail. Professional athletes can be found mainly on the difficult, black-marked trails such as the Bichlbach Mähbergloipe. The tours can be wonderfully combined with each other with the connecting trails and thus individually tailored to personal strength and endurance. Great bonus: All cross-country trails can be used free of charge.
Or would you like to hit the bull's eye like the pros? In the biathlon for everyone, you can follow in the footsteps of the record winners and prove your marksmanship and mental strength.

In addition to all this, the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena has another gem to offer cross-country skiers, namely the cross-country hotels Hotel Hubertushof Lermoos and Sporthotel Schönruh. Both place great emphasis on hospitality, relaxation, excellent regional cuisine and unbeatable consulting expertise in the field of cross-country skiing. In addition to in-house know-how, the cross-country skiing hotels offer their guests lockable ski rooms, a practical laundry service, various bookable cross-country skiing packages and a rental service for top equipment in the immediate vicinity of the hotel.

The offer for lovers of Nordic sports - or those who want to become one - in the Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena is really impressive. And just between you and me, the panoramic view of the Zugspitze can be enjoyed particularly well away from the hustle and bustle of the pistes. Speaking of enjoying: The rustic inns scattered throughout the winter sports arena are the perfect place to be to sample regional specialties and offer you a culinary highlight or two after the hours of sport.
