Swedish carmaker Koenigsegg is a household name among sports car fans. No one is building faster cars than Koenigsegg at the moment. The extreme carbon bullets easily outperform legendary sports car brands like Lamborghini or Ferrari. They are in a league of their own with Bugatti, Hennessey, Transtar, Shelby Supercars or Trion Supercars. Most people will hardly know or have ever seen these extremely rare and super-expensive bolides, as they are absolute niche brands in terms of number of units, which are responsible for the top performance in sports cars. Many of the brands claim ultra-fast speed with regard to their extracool styled models and outdo themselves in their claims, but often fail to provide proof that is comprehensible to laymen. As one of the legendary brands when it comes to speed limits, Bugatti first cracked the previously unattained sound barrier of 400 km/h for production cars in 2005 with its Veyron model and also recorded it in pictures.
New world records
As recently as September 2017, Bugatti had set a new speed record of 0 to 400 km/h in 41.9 seconds. This was now surpassed by Koenigsegg on November 4, 2017. On a closed-off highway in Nevada, the Agera RS made the 0 to 400 and back to 0 in 33.29 seconds, once again raising the bar significantly for Bugatti. Koenigsegg also set a new top speed of 457.94 km/h, which the Agera RS achieved in one of the two runs. The drive of race driver Niklas Lilja was recorded in a video with speed measurement. You can see the video below. Koenigsegg doesn't just talk, it delivers, and it does so in real-time mode. This makes the Koenigsegg Agera RS currently the fastest production car in the world. Already Hennessy is working on 482 km/h, Bugatti on over 450 km/h and others are already talking about over 500 km/h. Fascinating. Congratulations to the strong team in Sweden.
