Surprising exit for Zverev at the Australian Open 2018

Today was certainly different from what the current number 4 in the ATP world rankings, German Alexander "Sascha" Zverev, had imagined. He was facing Korean Hyeon Chung, ranked 58th in the ATP world rankings. And he obviously had nothing to lose, because he put on the pressure from the start and convinced with compact and solid tennis. While Zverev managed to save the first set, he lost the second in a tie-break, which obviously did not affect him psychologically, as he won the third set clearly 6:2. But the match was exhausting and obviously took its toll on his strength, which is why he did not have enough to counter in the last two. The 6:0 of the last game was then an exaggerated ignominy, no wonder Zverev smashed his racket to vent his frustration.

At the press conference afterwards, Sascha Zverev then said about the match and his opponent: "You know, the ATP ranking sometimes lies. The way he played definitely didn't match his ranking in the ATP world rankings. It was a top 10 match from the beginning to the end."

This eliminates Germany's greatest tennis hope in the men's tournament and at the same time one of the crown favorites for the title.
