Circumnavigating the Dachstein by mountain bike has long been on my "What else do I want to do before I..." - List. This year it should finally be so far. We go to Austria, to the northern edge of the Alps. Salzkammergut here we come! Known since time immemorial for its numerous lakes and mountains, much has been done in recent years to ensure that bikers in the Salzkammergut get their money's worth. About 1,500 bike kilometers are waiting for us. The tours mostly lead along well-maintained forest roads, peppered with crisp trails.

So that we also choose the right tour for us with certainty and the challenge does not become too much, we have decided to explore the Salzkammergut together with a bike guide. The next morning Helmut welcomes us with a beaming smile already at the breakfast table. Helmut is a state-certified mountain bike guide and operator of the Salzkammergut Mountain Bike Center. The state-certified triathlon coach has been biking crisscross through the Salzkammergut for many years and knows the region like no other. That's why it's easy for him to help us choose from over 70 tours. "One of my favorite tours is the Blaa Alm round, which with its 40 kilometers is also well doable for beginners," Helmut starts right away with the tour planning.
