Loïc Bruni - A cool world champion

This year he turns 22 and already calls himself world champion in the discipline downhill. He deservedly took the title last year in Vallnord/Andorra. 2015 saw the long-earned breakthrough in the racing career of the young southern Frenchman, who grew up and lives in Cagnes sur Mer, a stone's throw from Nice.

The cards were in his favor when he decided to pursue a downhill career in mountain biking. His father Jean-Pierre was one of the pioneers in Europe as far as the discipline of downhill is concerned, winning numerous national and international titles throughout his career. Inspired by his father for this sport, he started mountain biking downhill at the age of 10 at the MOM Avalanche series. Following Nicolas Vouilloz and Fabien Barel, his "neighbors" on the Côte d'Azur, the Frenchman revealed his talent as a downhill rider at regional and national level at a young age. In 2011, Team Lapierre Gravity Republic signed him. Loïc, nicknamed "Brownie" by his mother, subsequently became French junior champion. In 2012, he competed in the World Cup circuit and made it to the podium at the Elite World Cup in Windham, USA, while still a junior. He also won the Junior World Championship. In 2013, he competed as an elite athlete for the first time, and again he stood on the podium in Val di Sole, Italy, before finishing second at the World Cup in Leogang, Austria. He finished the World Cup season in a strong 5th place in the UCI World Rankings.In addition, he took the French Championship title to capture the same in 2014 and 2015. He also made steady progress at the World Championships. While Loïc finished 11th in 2013, he worked his way up to 8th place in 2014. Last year, however, must be described as a complete breakthrough in his still short downhill career. ....
