This is how a ski season can really start, at least from the point of view of Lara Gut and the Swiss women's team in the Alpine Ski World Cup: first place in the season opener in Sölden on Oct. 26, 2013. And apart from the joy, it is truly a history-making victory: it was the first time in the past 20 years that a Swiss rider won the first race in the Alpine Ski World Cup. We did not want to look back any further. With the 2nd place anno 2001 Sonja Nef achieved the second best result among Swiss female skiers in the 20-year history of Sölden and the 4th place as the third best result was shared by Vreni Schneider in 1993 and Dominique Gisin in 2012. Is this a sign? Is it a good omen for Lara Gut and her season? We hope so for her, the Swiss racers and their fans. We are keeping our fingers crossed for Lara Gut, it could be a very hot season for her.
