Mikaela Shiffrin closed the Slalom World Cup with a superior victory and left the competition no chance. Wendy Holdener and Frida Hansdotter fell short of their potential in the first run and dropped back to fifth and sixth place. However, the Swede shone in the second run with an excellent lower section of the course, which is why she took the lead. Wendy Holdener entered the race after her and was behind for a while, but then turned up the pace and was one hundredth of a second faster than Hansdotter at the end. The Austrian, Katharina Gallhuber, delivered an outstanding first run, which she finished in fourth place, but was unable to repeat the good performance and fell back to seventh place.
Petra Vlhova had an excellent starting position for the second run with third place after the first run. She probably thought that she would become number two in the overall World Cup with a victory, because she skied completely tense and wanted to force the victory. In the end, she lost 1.06 seconds to the leader and dropped back to 11th place in the final standings. Bernadette Schild, who was convincing in the first run, skied a spirited second run as second last, but it was still not enough for the podium. After that, Mikaela Shiffrin started with a lead of 0.72 seconds over Holdener, who was in the lead. How would she approach the race? Tactically or with full risk? Already after the first gates the matter was clear. She started as on her best days and extended her lead from intermediate time to intermediate time in her well-tried manner and outdid her opponents with a lead of 1.58 seconds at the finish. Thus she won the last slalom race of this season in an impressive and superior manner and finished the overall World Cup with about 300 points ahead of her fiercest pursuers Wendy Holdener, Frida Hansdotter and Petra Vlhova.
