Icehotel: Spend the night at minus 5 degrees

Every year, when the Torne River in Jukkasjärvi, Sweden, freezes over, a new Icehotel is created. That's when around 200 ice artists flock to the village to sculpt the unique Icehotel out of the river's ice, and have been doing so for 26 years. Year after year, 50,000 guests come to Jukkasjärvi not to miss this unique overnight spectacle. 2500 ice blocks, each weighing 2 tons, have to be used to create this unique work of art. Intoxicating suites, rooms and sculptures are carved out of the ice to enchant their guests. And you may hardly believe it, you can actually spend the night in such ice rooms, but you also get a warm sleeping bag to endure the temperatures of minus 5 to minus 8 degrees Celsius. This year, there are also exclusive Carpe Diem beds. If that is - understandably - too cold for you, there are also normal rooms available. The artfully carpentered ice bar is available to him, in order to experience the ice world. In northern Sweden, you can also enjoy seeing the polar lights or riding on a reindeer sled. But what begins so wonderfully on November 19, comes to an end again on April 12. Then the strengthening spring sun thaws the ice of the hotel again and the water flows back into the Torne River.
