90 years fishermen

What began in 1924 in a wooden shed in Ried im Innkreis (Upper Austria) with the construction of ladder trucks, sleds and individual skis, is today one of the most successful ski brands and Nordic world market leader.

Fischer stands for innovation and the latest technologies and enjoys a worldwide reputation as a top-class high-tech brand. For Fischer, the symbiosis between tradition, pioneering spirit and high-tech is at the heart of their work. After Josef Fischer Senior died of a heart attack in 1959, his son Josef "Pepi" Junior and his sister Selma Sturmberger took over the reins of the company. Building the future on tradition and the structures that have grown up - at the same time driving developments forward, being open to new things and letting the pioneering spirit of the past live on - that is probably the recipe for success of the family business. So it's no surprise that numerous innovations from the house of Fischer have shaken up the ski world:

Innovations
1979In the Nordic area, the precursor of today's crown grind was the replacement of the fur strips as a climbing aid to the Nowax - ski.
1984Fischer sets new standards in ski construction with the introduction of the revolutionary production technology, creating homogeneous ski bodies in which forces flow smoothly into one another. With the COMPOSITE CORE (lightweight core), the lightest cross-country ski in the world is also launched on the market.
2003Fischer Sports starts with the launch of ski boots.
2011A milestone in ski boot development succeeds: Fischer launches VACUUM FIT.
2013With the SPEEDMAX, the new generation of Nordic racing skis is presented.
2014Fischer can boast the further development of Crown technology, known as crown grinding (Vario Crown).

The drive for innovation is also what gives rise to the companies FACC and FCT out of Fischer. The search for lightweight components unites the ski developers with those in the aviation and automotive industries. Synergies are optimally utilized and successfully flow into the respective collections until the economic situation of these industries in 2008 (FACC) and 2009 (FCT) forces the family-owned company to focus again on its core competencies: Skiing with its many colorful facets Such an exciting company history arouses curiosity. It is therefore not surprising that numerous invited customers of Fischer Switzerland gathered in front of the Reisecar in Bern on September 10, 2014 to visit the birthplace in Austria.

Dealer event 2014
The journey to Ried im Innkreis was interrupted with a tasty food stop in the Bad Ragaz showroom and overnight stay in Salzburg. The next day, September 11, 2014, after a one-hour stage, they arrived in Ried im Innkreis. Following the group photo in front of the Fischer main building, the impressive exhibition of the company's history could be visited. The numerous stations of ski product development spread joy and exuded a touch of nostalgia spiced with a proper pinch of pioneering spirit. Divided into four groups, Fischer offered a special presentation of the family business and its history by Head of Division Nordic Thomas Drindl, as well as an extremely exciting tour of ski production. So much concentrated know-how and demanding manual work amazed one or the other and brought the innovative production of today's so self-evident skis into consciousness.

Also based in Ried is the subsidiary Löffler Premium Sportswear, which belongs to the same group of companies. its CEO Otto Leodolter did not miss the opportunity to personally present the high-tech machines to those interested. Löffler is the first company in Austria to be awarded the STeP certificate - and thus once again one step ahead of the competition. The certification is a visible expression of sustainable textile production.

The fact that there is definitely a connection between Fischer cross-country skis and carbon parts for aircraft became clear at the latest during the exclusive tour of FACC. The visit to the aircraft parts manufacturer rounded off the informative program for the 53 participants from Switzerland. The convivial evening at the Rieder Oktoberfest brought the successful event to a close.
