Vettel misses Q3 for the umpteenth time

Not entirely surprising, but certainly annoying for Sebastian Vettel: For the second time after Australia, he fails to make it into Q3 in qualifying this season. According to Vettel, there were problems with shifting, which is why the rear wheels kept locking up. Nevertheless, he was confident for the race. What else could he do? Niki Lauda, on the other hand, was very skeptical. He considers starting the race from the midfield with the current car to have no chance of a good result. The problems with Vettel's car and the Renault engines in the current season are well known. His stablemate Dany Ricciardo fared much better: 3rd place behind the two Mercedes drivers Hamilton and Rosberg again caused his familiar glow. However, he is penalized 10 places for the mishap with the loose tire during the pit stop in Malaysia. Not entirely surprisingly, the Mercedes showed absolute dominance, only this time the two drivers swapped places: Rosberg on pole, Hamilton in 2nd place on the grid. In the Ferrari camp, Räikkönen lands a points victory, he puts all his eggs in one basket, or one lap, and ends up well ahead of Alonso, for the first time. Since Australia it is clear Williams and McLaren are among the front teams in 2014. After Ricciardo's penalty, the Finn Bottas now finds himself in 3rd place on the grid. In 4th place this time is Sergio Perez on Force India instead of Hülkenberg. Things didn't go so well for Sauber: Gutierrez in 15th and Sutil in 18th, who is moved back 5 places due to Grosjean's obstruction, meaning he starts the race from last place, certainly not the optimum for the Swiss racing team, which has not yet got going at all in the new season.
