The ski region Andermatt-Sedrun already opens the winter season

It is with great pleasure that the SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun announces the opening of the winter season 2014/15 next weekend. The exceptionally heavy snowfalls of the last days had transformed the ski region into a winter landscape.

The SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun starts tomorrow, 8.11.2014, at the Gemsstock (Guschen) into the winter season! The extraordinary snowfalls of the last days in Andermatt and Sedrun allow an early season opening in the ski area at Gemsstock. Next weekend the aerial cableway Andermatt-Gurschen, the chairlift Gurschengrätli will be in operation. In the middle station the Gurschenbar is open. There are excellent piste conditions. According to the Andermatt piste rescue chief, Carlo Danioth, there has never been so much snow on the slopes at this time of year.
the Gurschen/Gemsstock as today. Currently, the snow depth on Gurschenalp is around 140 cm, on Cuolm Val in Sedrun around 130 cm and on Gemsstock around 270 cm. That is why the SkiArena team is able to start the winter season 2014/15 already tomorrow at short notice. The SkiArena Andermatt-Sedrun is the only ski resort in central Switzerland where skiers and boarders can start the 2014/15 winter season this coming weekend (November 8/9, 2014). The Gemsstockbahn will take the athletes up to Gurschenalp, where for them the slopes Gurschenalp, Mändli and
Lara Gut are freshly prepared. The Andermatt-Gurschen cable car is in operation from 08.30 to 16.30 and the Gurschen chairlift from 08.40 to 16.00. At the Gurschen bar, the gastro team offers a limited range of drinks and food.

Due to the small number of slopes, the day tickets for adults are offered for 40 CHF. Teenagers (13-17 years) pay 30 CHF, children from 7 to 12 years just 20 CHF. Ski tickets can be purchased at the ticket office of the Gemsstockbahn in Andermatt.
