Ski test: Rossignol React 2020 - carver with traction

Yesterday, we at Sportguide set out to test a model of the new "React" carver models from French ski brand Rossignol, which will be on sale from the 2019/20 winter season. The React models replace the established Pursuit models from next winter. I was provided with the high-quality model R8 with the dimensions 123-74-109 mm at a length of 168 cm, which has an additional titanal insert.

The 5.9 kilograms that the pair of skis with bindings weighed seemed much lighter than Dynastar's Speedmaster SL model at 163 cm, where the scales read 6.1 kg. From the feeling, you would think there was a difference of half a kilo or more. I therefore wondered if the new Rossignol had been made lighter. Upon further inquiry, Stefan Müller, Marketing Manager DACH of Rossignol, assured me that the React models are not really heavier than the previous Pursuit models. It was also hard to spot a rocker on the shovel. If the model gets along at all with a rocker, then it is minimal and also hardly noticeable. Visually, the good piece is already the hammer. Now I was very curious to see how the sporty carver feels on the slopes.

In short: The ski is made for hard, icy and groomed slopes with light fresh snow. Too much snow he can not displace and Sulz he does not like at all, there he needs appropriate wax, otherwise you run the risk of the grip joy of the ski to get stuck and make an involuntary trip in the snow.

The React is equipped with the new LCT technology, which comes from racing - see the new Hero models from Rossignol - and which consists of a Titanal strand that runs vertically through the center of the entire ski. This technology is designed to improve the tracking control and stability of the ski.

And indeed the React shows itself extremely smooth and stable during my ride. It has a strong edge grip and demands speed. Especially on the move, it proves to be safe and stable. It seems to me as if I had a thoroughbred Arabian horse under me, which wants to give everything, with which one does not walk through the garden. The React demands traction and speed, which it also masters safely. It would be a shame to just coast around on the slopes with such a talented part. Especially the high-quality models of the line want to be driven out.

The new React is created for sporty carving on hard slopes, without therefore demanding too much: You do not have to be an experienced racer to be able to master it. If you are sporty, however, it does no harm either. On too soft snow, it lacks the middle width. In addition, it runs counter to the good edge grip, which provides strong control on ice and hard surfaces.

Those who love fast carving on the slopes will love the Rossignol React just as much. He is the right partner for such excursions. Safe, fast, quiet and controlled. Despite its small radius, it tempts you to ski large radii to develop appropriate speed. Those who do not want to race, but want to be snappy and safe on the slopes, should familiarize themselves with the new Rossignol React.
