Bode Miller: The retirement of the American superstar

No Bode Miller fan likes to hear that his idol is going to retire, but that's just the way it is in sports, the end of a career comes more quickly than in normal professional life. At almost 40 years of age, Bode has also taken plenty of time. Even after the botched home World Cup 2015 in Beaver Creek, where he suffered cuts after falling in the Super G and had to give up, he didn't want to know about retirement. After the 2015 World Championships, Miller parted ways with Head as his equipment supplier. This separation made his World Cup return impossible, as Head prevented Miller from competing with his bomber skis. Again and again he talked about returning to the World Cup. And we had all wished for it. Like no other, he inspired us with his daredevilry and daredevil riding. Like a rodeo rider on a crazy horse, he thundered down the slopes and made things possible that no one else could. Although he is mentally stronger today than he used to be and he feels he can still keep up physically, professional skiing is now over for him. In an interview with Graham Bensinger, when asked if he will still ski World Cup and why, he says: "No, zero percent chance, it's over, I raced World Cup for a long time, now it's no longer my desire to continue racing". With 438 World Cup starts, including 79 podiums and 33 wins, 19 Olympic races with 6 medals including a gold, and 29 World Cup starts with five medals, four of which are gold, he looks back on an impressive skiing career as the most successful American skier of all time.
We will miss you, Bode!
