The Kreuzlingen Sailing Association is Swiss Champion in the Super League of sailors

The Swiss Sailing Super League crowns the Kreuzlingen Sailing Association as the deserved winner and Swiss Champion 2019. With two wins and one second place in a total of four regattas, the sailors from Lake Constance clearly dominated the league, closely followed by two strong teams from French-speaking Switzerland. Last weekend, the teams sailed their hearts out on Lake Neuchâtel, resulting in strong castles in the standings between 5th and 11th place.

Windy sailing weather awaited the teams on Lake Neuchâtel at the end of the season. Here, the team from Kreuzlingen with Tom Rüegge, Stefan Stäheli, Michael Herrmann and Jens Lichtblau managed to win again, which catapulted the team to the top of the table by far. The two teams from French-speaking Switzerland, the Société Nautique de Genève and the Bordée de Tribord - La Neuveville were able to maintain their position. Especially for the team from Neuveville, led by Lorenz Kausche, this is a great success. With the sixth place in the race, they were able to get ahead of the favorites from Geneva. The previous Swiss champion, the Regattaclub Bodensee, has to be content with 4th place this year. It is expected that these four teams will represent Switzerland at the SAILING Champions League 2020.

In particular, a heated battle against relegation emerged in the last race. Thereby, Yacht Club Thunersee shone with a second place in the race and Regattaclub Oberhofen with a fourth place, which lifted the two clubs in danger of relegation to the final table positions 5 and 6. It was a completely different story for Club Nautique de Pully, which dropped from 7th to 11th in the standings thanks to its final place in the race, making it a relegation candidate. The Yacht Club Bielersee also had to tremble: With its 11th place in the race, it fell from 6th to 9th in the table and saved itself from relegation with a razor-thin margin of one point. For the clubs from Versoix, Pully and Zürich-Enge, it means relegation and continuing to fight in the Challenge League from 2020.

The Swiss Sailing Super League 2019 thus ends the season with a worthy winner and four exciting races, which were completed by the clubs with a lot of commitment, ambition and passion. We can already look forward to the next races in the 2020 season.
