Ski brand “Original Plus” has gone bankrupt

We have received the information that the ski brand “Original+” (spoken Original Plus) has filed for bankruptcy in the summer of 2023. The website and social media channels are out of service. We were never informed by the company Typs GmbH, which produced and sold the brand.

Typs GmbH is most likely another victim of the Corona policy and the politics of the Ukraine war. The political decisions regarding the corona pandemic have paralyzed sales in Europe and the USA, the decisions to massively sanction Russia because of the war in Ukraine have led to massive increases in the price of energy and raw materials, which are massively reducing the necessary profit margins of production companies and sometimes lead to loss-making business. Anyone who doesn't have money in reserve here thanks to generous investors will quickly go under. Many small companies in Europe are affected by this real crisis. Last winter, which was far too warm, did its part to ultimately ruin the ski business. After all, consumers' decisions have become very quick and if it's not cold and there's no snow lying around, people won't buy them Skis. Many ski companies, especially small ski companies, are currently threatened with closure.

Now Sigi Rumpfhuber's ski start-up company has apparently also been hit, which used a completely new online ordering concept to produce the perfect individual ski based on biometric data that the customer provided during the ordering process. Sigi Rumpfhuber knew the ski industry well, having previously run the Austrian ski brand “Kästle”. As the Austrian online magazine Brutkasten reported in July 2023, this is not the case clear whether the brand will be continued or not. In principle, it is possible to have a brand produced by another manufacturer. A current example of this is the ski brand “Bogner”. In 2020, the manufacturer of the Indigo ski brand went bankrupt also produced Bogner skis. The ski brand Anavon is said to have recently acquired the rights to re-produce the Bogner brand.

The loss of this innovative ski manufacturer from Salzburg / Austria is very regrettable, as it stimulated the industry with new innovations and made the market more diverse for consumers. But there is currently a lot of trouble in the ski industry.
