Lucas Braathen is actually still a true rookie, but his excellent results in the World Cup over the past two years speak the language of a veteran and a super talent. With 12 podium finishes in 69 World Cup races, he showed an incredibly high success rate up to 2022/23. He is one of the absolute shooting stars in the ski circus of the last three years and is a sure contender for victory in the future of slalom and giant slalom. He manifested this winning quality with victory in the 2022/23 Slalom World Cup. One day before the start of the 2023/24 World Cup season, he surprisingly announced his retirement, which goes back to a three-year dispute with the Norwegian Ski Association, which is unjustly curtailing his rights and freedom, as he announced in an emotional press conference what he no longer wants to do and why he is giving up the sport. Really tragic! After an involuntary year off from the World Cup, Lucas Pinheiro Braathen will be back in 2024/25 and will be riding for the Brazilian team. He owes this lucky turn of events to the fact that he has a Brazilian mother. However, due to last year's failure, he will be starting the new season behind the first 30 starting positions, which is a clear disadvantage, but he is fighting his way forward amazingly.
