Honda launches global NSX GT3 Racing program

In collaboration with JAS Motorsport, Honda Performance Development (HPD) and Mugen, Honda will offer the NSX GT3 for purchase by customer teams worldwide beginning with the 2018 season.

In just its first season of racing in the 2017 North American IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the Honda NSX GT3 won multiple times, qualifying for many more FIA racing events around the globe. These include:
- in Europe: the Blancpain GT series and the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring
- in North America: the Pirelli World Challenge and the IMSA SportsCar Series
- in Asia: the Blancpain GT Series and the GT-Asia Championship
- in Japan: the GT300 class of the Super GT Championship
- in Australia: the GT Championship
- the Intercontinental GT Challenge

JAS Motorsport is now taking orders for the NSX GT3 and is responsible for sales and customer support in Europe, Asia (including China) and South America. HPD looks after the market in North America and Mugen that in Japan.

The NSX GT3 was developed by Honda R&D in Japan in collaboration with JAS Motorsport in Milan, Italy. HPD also participated in this joint project over the past three years from the end of 2015. Over 85,000 race kilometers and test drives have been completed. At the start of the 2018 season, 12 race-ready vehicles are ready.

The production-based 3.5 liter V6 twin-turbo engines are produced in parallel with the production model at the Anna engine plant in Ohio, USA. The race engine shares the same design features as the production NSX, including engine block, cylinder heads, valve train, crankshaft, pistons and dry sump lubrication. A racing gearbox with six-speed sequential shifting, state-of-the-art suspension and aerodynamic package round out the NSX GT3's impressive performance features.

JAS Motorsport offers the race-ready carbon version of the NSX GT3 at a retail price starting at EUR 465,000. Additional options and customer support, including spare parts and distribution, training and engineering services are also on offer.

"Honda is very proud of the launch of the NSX GT3 race program for customer teams," said Robert Watherston, Head of Motorsport at Honda Motor Europe. "The quality of the car has already impressed with its victories in the U.S., and we managed to lead the Daytona 24 Hours in the very first race this year. With the support of our customers from Honda, JAS Motorsport, HPD and Mugen, we have the best conditions to compete for victory at the most prestigious GT3 races in the world from 2018."

Alessandro Mariani, CEO JAS Motorsport: "The NSX GT3 was developed to compete in races and championships at the highest level. It combines innovative GT3 racing technology with beautiful and efficient design. And it complies with the latest FIA safety regulations. The car has already won races in the USA. Now we are starting sales to motorsport customers worldwide."

The NSX GT3 continues the motorsport heritage of the legendary first-generation NSX. This included victory in the GT2 class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995 and three victories in the Super GT Championship (including the former All Japan GT Championship) between 2000 and 2009.
