Made for deep snow
The freeride ski is designed for use in deep snow. Its design can be recognized by a wide center width (id.R. from 90 mm) and a strongly bent up shovel (rocker) and a bent up ski end. This design provides good "float" properties in deep snow. These skis therefore also show a "surfing" behavior on the slopes and a surfer feeling sets in. In the recent past, individual ski brands have started to make these ski concepts suitable for the groomed piste with somewhat narrower waists (e.g. 85 mm).
