Elan SLX - season 2021/22 - in test

Elan SLX in test, 24.03.2021

The ski test of the "Elan SLX" was a real pleasure experience: speed yes, but with high comfort. The right model for all pleasure skiers!

After my previous test of the World Cup model SLX World Cup from Elan, the test of the "normal" slalom racing ski "Elan SLX" was all the more exciting and the difference between the two models is then also massive.

After the Rossignol and Dynastar tests a few days earlier, a bright day was waiting for me today on the Parsenn in Davos to test the racing skis from Elan. But spring was already noticeable in Davos, too, with a warm 6 degrees Celsius waiting for the skiers at the valley station.

After the test of the World Cup model was not difficult but also not comfortable to a high degree, I was even more excited to see how only the normal Slaom race ski from Elan would behave. And wow, what a difference! A noble glide, as if one floated over the snow and an easy swing-in immediately caught my attention positively. Similar to the Dynastar Speed 963 slalom race ski a few days earlier. The ski obviously has damping elements in the front of the ski, which ensure that impacts on the slope are massively swallowed away and the ride is pleasant over all masses. Still, it's narrow and short enough to conjure up casual turns on the slopes, if that's what you want. The differences between the two brands mentioned are then only marginal, this is more a question of the brand and the optics that decide. The effort required is of course somewhat less than with the Sportskanone before, the edge grip perhaps a Mü lower than the World Cup model but always sufficient especially on the slopes for normal drivers.

Race ski with pleasure
The Elan SLX is a great racing ski. The slalom race ski turns as light as a feather and floats easily and elegantly over the snow even in soft snow passages. The edge grip is strong but not extreme, the smoothness excellent. The model is aimed at slalom skiers who want to spend the day with a lively but highly comfortable ski where you never run out of breath.

  1. Hello Rolf ,
thank you very much for the feedback.
I'm also strongly considering it right now,
Rossignol Hero ElIte ST TI or Elan SLX ,
where the Elan SLX was the 2019/2020 model I tested.
I think that has not changed much, but perhaps to safety
test again. Have the ski two years ago unfortunately only 170 get to test ,
for the reason would like to try the current in 165.

  2. Hello Rolf ,
thank you very much for the feedback.
I am also all the time thinking,
    which ski I should get.
RossIgnol HERO ELITE ST TI or Elans SLX ,
where I must say that I have the SLX Model 2018/2019 only in length from 170
have tested , 165 was no longer available.
I think constructively it has not changed there fell, but perhaps would be advisable to test in shorter lengths .

    1. Hello Alex

Both excellent models! You should also think about Dynastar's new Speed line, which we also tested (Dynastar Speed 963). Shorter lengths simply means the ski is a bit more agile, perhaps a mu less smooth on the straight.

Check also our Ski Finder, where you can easily compare ski models.

      Have fun with it!
