German sports car manufacturer Porsche is certainly pleased with the one billion euros flowing into its coffers following the completion of the sale of its stakes in Bugatti and Rimac. Bugatti’s vision for the future is being realized with new financial partners and a new production plant.
In 2021, Porsche and the Rimac Group established the joint venture Bugatti Rimac, with the Rimac Group holding a 55% majority stake and Porsche holding the remaining 45%. Porsche also held a 21% stake in the Rimac Group. Under the transaction announced in April 2026, a consortium led by HOF Capital—including BlueFive Capital as the largest investor, alongside other institutional investors from the US and Europe—agreed to acquire Porsche’s stakes in the Rimac Group and Bugatti Rimac. The transaction has now been completed.
Porsche and the acquiring consortium had already signed the relevant agreements in April 2026. Following regulatory approval, the transaction was completed on September 9, 2026. The sale generates proceeds of approximately €1 billion for the Porsche AG Group. The company is using €250 million of these proceeds to further fund its pension obligations. The net cash flow margin for the Automotive segment projected in Porsche’s half-year financial report did not include any effects from divestments. Taking into account the aforementioned cash inflow and the further funding of pension obligations, the net cash flow margin for the Automotive segment for the 2026 fiscal year is now expected to rise to between 5.5 and 7.5 percent (previous forecast: 3 to 5 percent).
“I am delighted that the agreement with Porsche and HOF Capital has now been concluded. Porsche has been a highly valuable partner throughout the years, enabling us to build a solid foundation for the brand’s future. I look forward to working with HOF Capital, who will be a tremendous asset in realizing our long-term vision for Bugatti’s exciting future.”
With the new shareholder structure now fully implemented, Bugatti Rimac is solidifying Mate Rimac’s long-term strategic and operational vision for Bugatti—a vision he developed upon his appointment as CEO of Bugatti Rimac in 2021. Mate is supported in this endeavor by a new and restructured leadership team. Christophe Piochon will step down from his roles as President of Bugatti Automobiles and Chief Operating Officer of Bugatti Rimac. Mate Rimac himself will assume the role of President of Bugatti Automobiles, while Marko Brkljačić—formerly Chief Operating Officer at Rimac Technology—is set to join the Bugatti Rimac leadership team as Chief Operating Officer. Further changes are planned for the near future, including the appointment of Hendrik Malinowski, the current Managing Director of Bugatti Automobiles, as the brand’s Chief Commercial Officer.
The appointment of the new executives comes at a pivotal moment in Bugatti’s history: the opening of the new “La Manufacture” production facility in Molsheim this July and the final testing phase of the Bugatti Tourbillon. Together, these milestones form the foundation for Bugatti’s ten-year vision, established in 2021 under the leadership of Mate Rimac.
