The exclusive sports car manufacturer Pagani combines the style and lines of 1960s racing cars with state-of-the-art technology. The long tail of those racing cars is a particularly prominent feature of the "Codalunga." Beneath its surface lies 864 horsepower, courtesy of the Mercedes-AMG V12 engine. Limited to just 10 units and individually tailored to each customer, Pagani will deliver this exquisite luxury vehicle in 2026.
San Cesario sul Panaro, July 8, 2025 – A sculptural profile, a light character, an unmistakable personality. This is the Huayra Codalunga Speedster: an open-top interpretation of the coupé that won the design award at the 2023 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. Designed by Pagani’s Grandi Complicazioni department, the project was conceived by Horacio Pagani as a tribute to customers seeking the perfect balance between elegant design and powerful performance. Only ten examples will be built, all of which are street legal worldwide. Deliveries are expected to begin in 2026.
“Every Pagani is born to realize the unique vision of a hypercar. For some, it must be extreme, bold, and captivating at first glance; for others, it embodies elegance, restraint, and harmony. From these different interpretations arise studies, research, and solutions that lead to strikingly different results, yet all bear the unmistakable Pagani signature: the clarity of lines, the absolute attention to detail, and the balance between aesthetics and function. The Huayra Codalunga Speedster is a tribute to all those who envision their sports car as an icon of lightness and dynamism, shaped by essential lines that effortlessly transcend time.” (Horacio Pagani, Founder & Chief Designer, Pagani Automobili)
The origin
“In the 1950s and 60s, racing cars combined performance and beauty in an almost poetic balance. They had to be fast, but also light, elegant, and crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Romantic lines, timeless. Then something changed. Efficiency took a backseat to elegance. With the Huayra Codalunga Speedster, we wanted to return to that era of refined speed. We dispensed with aerodynamic add-ons and side air intakes. We aimed for clean, tapered forms that cut through the air quietly and without unnecessary noise. A different Pagani, created around the idea of visual and formal lightness.” (Lorenzo Kerkoc, Head of Grandi Complicazioni)
Exterior design
The Huayra Codalunga Speedster adopts the styling elements of the coupé, but reinterprets them decisively. It immediately stands out from all other open-top Pagani models: even more streamlined, even more purist. Starting with its structure, featuring a completely new monocoque construction.
The visual journey begins at the front. The headlights are seamlessly integrated into the bodywork, like etched light. The bumper with its integrated splitter directs the airflow with millimeter precision. The lower, softer windscreen flows smoothly into the car's lines, making it appear sleeker and more harmonious. Inspired by post-war racing prototypes, the side windows are flatter and have a gently rounded trailing edge. This design accentuates the dynamic lines and embodies the speedster philosophy, conveying a sense of lightness and forward momentum. The rear window continues this dynamic theme all the way to the panoramic hardtop – an entirely new element that, when installed, forms a continuous line from the windscreen to the rear. Viewed from above, the roof resembles a perfect teardrop shape, further emphasized by the A-pillars. The transparent polycarbonate section reduces weight without compromising rigidity.
Every line along the sides draws the eye. The doors, with their traditional opening direction, are a harmonious choice that reflects the philosophy of essence. The aerodynamic louvers are integrated. The outer sills are seamlessly integrated into the doors and tailgate. No visible openings: air is channeled through concealed NACA ducts in the flat underbody. Between the roof and the rear, the roll bar takes shape. It's not just a safety bar – it's a visual statement. It picks up the body color and carries it into the interior, creating a flowing effect across the center console, gearshift, and dashboard. A cohesive color thread that connects exterior and interior, technology and poetry.
The tailgate further emphasizes the vehicle's streamlined rear. The bumper integrates a diffuser and two aerodynamic fins. The taillights appear to float: pure light, pure lightness. The new six-tip exhaust system with lower titanium pipes and upper ceramic-coated tailpipes completes the technical and aesthetic signature.
Every line of the Huayra Codalunga Speedster was born from the desire for optimal airflow. CFD simulations refined the curvature of the wheel arches and the airflow shape of the hood, ensuring a balanced distribution of aerodynamic load between the axles. The result? Less drag, better performance.
The interior
The colors are reminiscent of the 1960s; the surfaces have a satin finish; the craftsmanship combines traditional mastery with state-of-the-art techniques. The result is an essential, precise design that surprises without ever being overwhelming.
Inside, hammered and hand-stitched leather in various types and finishes can be combined, creating sophisticated and distinctive color and texture combinations – all individually designed. The solid, milled metal parts resemble small sculptures, reflecting the finesse of handcrafted work, as if gently chiseled by hand. The steering wheel and gearshift knob evoke the spirit of classic racing, reinterpreted through the Pagani lens: a carbon fiber frame, mahogany inlays, and hand-hammered and polished aluminum rivets. A modern homage to the legendary Nardi steering wheels, where form, material, and craftsmanship merge in perfect harmony. The interior exudes tranquility and a sense of command.
An exclusive fabric, developed specifically for this vehicle, lends the interior a truly personal touch. A sophisticated weave that translates haute couture techniques into a language unprecedented in the automotive world. The pattern is inspired by the symbol of the four exhaust pipes – a defining element of Pagani hypercars since the first Zonda. A system of circles that multiply and overlap creates a dense, rhythmic texture that transforms from symbol to object.
Each embroidered element consists of over 450,000 individual stitches, all meticulously executed by hand – a testament to precise, patient, and precious craftsmanship. This fabric lends seats, door panels, and the center console a delicacy that captivates at first glance and feels even more irresistible to the touch.
The beating heart
Under the hood beats a heart built for peak performance: the 60° Pagani V12, a 5,980 cc twin-turbo engine developed exclusively in collaboration with Mercedes-AMG. This powerhouse delivers 864 hp (635 kW) at 6,000 rpm and 1,100 Nm of torque, available from just 2,800 rpm, ensuring powerful and effortless acceleration.
A transversely mounted 7-speed gearbox from Pagani by Xtrac transmits the power and is available as both an automated manual transmission (AMT) and a standard manual gearbox – perfect for those seeking an even more direct connection to the vehicle. The six-pipe titanium exhaust system reduces weight and delivers a distinctive sound, a hallmark of every Pagani creation.
The engineering behind driving pleasure
The Huayra Codalunga Speedster is based on a monocoque chassis made of Carbo-Titanium HP62-G2 and Carbo-Triax HP62 – a masterpiece of strength and lightness that ensures uncompromising rigidity and safety. The active suspension, constructed from forged aluminum alloy, features an independent double wishbone axle with variable-rate springs and coaxial shock absorbers that adapt seamlessly to any driving situation.
The braking system is the result of a long-standing partnership with Brembo, a leading manufacturer of high-performance brakes. The Pagani by Brembo carbon-ceramic system guarantees power, precision, and durability even under the most extreme loads. At the front, 410 x 38 mm brake discs with 6-piston monolithic calipers ensure optimal deceleration, while at the rear, 390 x 34 mm brake discs with 4-piston calipers provide perfect braking performance. Interaction with the asphalt is achieved via monolithic Avional wheels – 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the rear – fitted with Pirelli Trofeo R tires (265/30 R20 front and 355/25 R21 rear). This combination guarantees maximum grip, precision, and control in every corner.
The spirit of the 60s creates a contemporary automotive work of art.
This year, the Pagani Huayara Codalunga Speedster, a unique work of art in sports car design that appeals to lovers of the 1960s, rolls out of the halls of the Italian luxury sports car manufacturer Pagani and into the hands of wealthy car enthusiasts and collectors from all over the world. It is likely that this extremely rare vehicle will never be seen in public, perhaps once in Dubai or Monaco, if one of the new owners ever decides to let it out of their garage.
