Helly Hansen has been the official Outdoor Clothing Partner of the legendary Hahnenkamm races since 2018 and is deepening its partnership with the Kitzbühel Ski Club: in addition to three international World Cup teams (Canada, Sweden and Finland), the Norwegian clothing manufacturer is equipping all of the approximately 300 employees of the OC Committee with functional clothing for the 80th anniversary of the World Cup ski race in 2020.
The Hahnenkamm Race is considered one of the most challenging ski races in the world. The legendary ski event takes place once a year and attracts more than 85,000 spectators to the popular winter sports resort of Kitzbühel every year. Around 50-80 of the most internationally successful top athletes take part in the World Cup race in each of the disciplines downhill, super-G and slalom, as the challenging Streif downhill with the extremely steep "Mausefalle" and the high-intensity Ganslern slalom require maximum concentration and excellent technical skills. With a speed of up to 135km/h the participants race into the finish compression. Last year, the spectacular race on Kitzbühel's local mountain was watched by around 94,000 sports enthusiasts on site and over 3 million viewers on television. In 2020, the Hahnenkamm Race will take place from January 20 to 26.
Based on the partnership concluded last year, Helly Hansen is the official Outdoor Clothing Partner of the Hahnenkamm Races until 2022 and will equip the leading officials and, from this winter season, also the entire Organizing Committee (OC) of the Kitzbühel Ski Club with weatherproof and functional clothing. Especially the piste teams, who work for several weeks under the toughest conditions to ensure that the slopes are perfectly prepared and secured and that the races run smoothly.
Since its founding in 1877, the Norwegian company Helly Hansen has worked to continuously develop its proven technical and reliable clothing. On the one hand, it relies on the latest technologies and materials, and on the other hand, it works closely with professionals and athletes to test and further develop its clothing under extreme conditions. This is how Helly Hansen succeeds in meeting even the highest demands and creating clothing that professionals all over the world trust.
"We are looking forward to entering our second season with the Hahnenkamm race. A successful partnership with such an internationally significant Ski World Cup race is proof of the high standards we also set for our ski and outdoor clothing. After a successful first year as a partner of the race, in which our high-quality apparel was allowed to prove itself, the organizing committee now has complete confidence in our equipment, which is perfectly suited for work on the mountain and on the slopes thanks to its high functionality and technical details. More than 55,000 professionals worldwide place their trust in us, and so we want to give the best possible support to the piste teams in particular with our high-performance clothing at the Hahnenkamm races as well," says Michael Uhl, Helly Hansen Marketing Manager Global, who is delighted about the extended partnership with the Kitzbühel Ski Club and the Hahnenkamm races.
There has also been great approval from organizer Kitzbühel Ski Club, as President and Chairman of the Organizing Committee (OC) Michael Huber explains, "The clothing for the OC team has already been in use since November and works wonderfully, keeping us all warm and dry. We are very satisfied and happy that we have found an outfitter in Helly Hansen whose clothing works in all situations."
The anticipation for the most spectacular ski race in the world, the Hahnenkamm Race, is rising. And for the 80th Hahnenkamm Race, there is something very special for the fans: Helly Hansen presents the latest fan collection for the 2020 race. The styles for men and women clearly make the heart of every Hahnenkamm fan beat faster.
The collection consists of beanie, cap and neckwarmer as well as T-shirts, sweaters and sweat jackets. Branded with the official Hahnenkamm logo, the limited collection can be purchased now at Intersport Kitzsport in Kitzbühel, at the Club House of the Kitzbühel Ski Club, opposite the Hahnenkamm lift and online.
