Accell Group starts cooperation with REIN4CED

Accell Group relocates automated production of carbon bicycle frames to Belgium. The recently agreed collaboration between Accell Group and REIN4CED was officially announced today. In the future, REIN4CED will manufacture high-quality carbon frames for members of the Accell Group. The first specially manufactured carbon frames equipped with the new technology will be used by GHOST in Germany, Spain, Austria, Switzerland, Italy and the Czech Republic in mid-2020. REIN4CED recently set up a completely new automated production facility in Belgium for this purpose.

The relocation of production from Asia to Belgium will benefit the Accell Group tremendously in the areas of logistics, sustainability, supply chain flexibility, as well as in efficiency. Production in Europe will greatly reduce transportation and storage costs, and will also have a positive impact on CO2 emissions, as well as guaranteeing faster delivery and cost savings.

CEO Accell Group Ton Anbeek:

"This cooperation fits perfectly with the Accell Group's global innovation strategy and our ambition to increase the sustainability of our products. By producing locally in combination with the new FEATHER technology, we improve the fatigue strength and safety of our products and thus achieve maximum performance for our customers. In a nutshell: This innovation is smart and environmentally friendly."

CEO REIN4CED Michaël Callens:

"We and the global player Accell Group are proud of our cooperation. REIN4CED has developed a new, automated production line for hybrid composite frames at its production facility in Leuven, Belgium. The production capacity is up to 20,000 frames per year. As our newly developed FEATHER composite material guarantees extremely high strength values, the Accell Group and its customers will benefit significantly from the innovative leap. Our newly developed carbon/steel composite mix will give riders the confidence they deserve in the upscale composite frame segment. The FEATHER material combines the stiffness and light weight of carbon with the strength of steel."

Background information

To FEATHER
FEATHER is a new type of composite material technology that offers extremely high resistance - a revolution in the composite sector. Bike frames produced with the new FEATHER technology take safety and reliability to a whole new level. By adding a small amount of steel, the sudden, brittle fracture behavior feared by many riders is eliminated. REIN4CED will deliver FEATHER frames to leading bike brands in early 2020. Due to FEATHER's sensational strength values, the material mix is not only interesting for the bicycle industry, but also for the automotive and aerospace industries.
