On May 22, the ambitious riders delivered an exciting race on their speedsters in the second round of the Spanish EX/EXR Cup in Marbella. The Ex/EXR Cup from Yamaha offers every buyer of an EX/EXR the chance to take part in such a race.
Strong winds on the day presented a big challenge for the racers, and with the action shortened to just one race due to a Coast Guard ban, it was an intense day of racing.
Vela led the race from lap one to the end, making no mistakes on his way to a strong victory. Elizalde improved during the race and finished second ahead of Villar, who was initially second but was demoted to third after a penalty for jumping a buoy. Anton Rico and Miguel Lamas finished fourth and fifth behind the podium finishers as they continued to learn their new Yamaha machines. The rest of the field did not finish the race due to technical problems related to the weather conditions. Some decided not to compete in the challenging conditions.
