  • Claudio Domenicali : "I am proud of the way Ducati employees face this difficult moment of health emergency, respecting the rules and following the instructions received."

Borgo Panigale (Bologna), March 17, 2020 - Ducati decides to extend the shutdown of its production lines to March 25, 2020 inclusive. Since the beginning of the health emergency in Italy on Monday, February 24, Ducati has taken an important series of measures to limit very quickly the probability of spread of the virus for the plant in Borgo Panigale, Ducati thus reacted before the authorities issued appropriate regulations. The most relevant were the measurement of the temperature for each person entering the plant, travel limited to the minimum necessary, a strong impulse for "Smart Working", meetings only in smaller groups and respect of the minimum distance between employees, in the staff restaurant specific procedures and a shift visit were introduced to avoid close contacts between people.

Despite all this, Ducati had decided to stop production from Friday, March 13 to Wednesday, March 18, inclusive, to carry out a series of works and interventions in the production lines to further increase the level of safety of workers and to introduce a program of dividing the work into several shifts to halve the number of people present on the assembly line at the same time.

The postponement of the reopening on March 25 was necessary to ensure full compliance with the new guidelines (joint protocol issued on March 14), compliance with which will require a few days for interventions and changes in structures. On the other hand, in accordance with the guidelines, all activities related to the development of new products and market support will continue, making extensive use of technology for "Smart Working".

"I am proud of the way Ducati employees are facing this difficult moment for our country". - said Claudio Domenicali, CEO of Ducati Motor Holding - My thanks go to all those who, every day and despite a difficult situation like this, confirm the great value of a united, cohesive, but also sensitive and attentive workforce. For them and for their safety, interventions and decisions like the ones we are taking are necessary and appropriate. However, all support services for our customers are guaranteed, especially the supply of spare parts. We want to reassure the Ducatisti and our dealers from all over the world: We are organizing ourselves to be ready for the restart, and even in this downtime our support will not fail."
