Costa Rica is an avid cycling nation and regularly organizes both road cycling and mountain biking events for athletic cycling professionals. Over 400,000 cyclists attest to the popularity of the sport. Enthusiastic bikers can expect countless kilometers of dirt roads and trails on extremely varied terrain in the Central American country. Early in the morning, bikers are awakened by the polyphonic concert of jungle birds and, after a day full of discoveries, are spoiled with lovingly prepared local dishes. Costa Rica invites you to bike in nature reserves with exotic animal and plant diversity and to relax on virgin forest-fringed dream beaches.

Current situation
Costa Rica is now less affected by COVID-19 again. Currently, the number of new daily infections is decreasing nationwide. Vaccinations have started. Most recently, the number was below 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants.

Entry
Tourist entry is only possible by air to San José or Liberia. Neither PCR test nor quarantine are required. Entry for vacationers by land is prohibited. Completion of an online health form prior to travel (QR code must be presented upon entry) as well as health insurance that also covers Covid 19 disease (proof in Spanish or English) are mandatory.

Tours
Popular day tours outside San José include the Irazú and Poás volcanoes or the Orosi Valley high mountains. More challenging tours include the high mountains of Talamanca, the central volcanic mountains, the mountains in Guanacaste and Tilarán, and the beautiful valleys and plains along the Caribbean and Pacific coasts.
