Australian surfer on a voyage of discovery in Germany & Austria

Team O'Neill rider Imogen Caldwell is young, petite and surfs the biggest waves in the world. At only 23 years old, the Australian beauty is currently considered one of the strongest and most progressive surfers around. She bravely rides the waves at her home spot "The Bluff", one of the most notorious big wave spots in Australia. Recently, together with O'Neill, she also made Bavaria and Austria unsafe. On Sunday 23.06 she surfed the legendary Eisbach wave, where she tested her river surfing skills for the first time and on Monday 24.06 she went to Austria for motocross biking. At home in Australia, the adventurous Australian spends time diving, fishing or flying and most of all with her two huskies Caspar and Ghost.

Is big wave surfing still a challenge for you - or has it already become a habit?
"I always try to challenge myself and set new goals - always a little higher or a little harder! "

You are known as a "fearless girl" - were there nevertheless already moments in which you said, up to here and not further?
"Yes, I say that all the time!"

It seems that women are getting more and more attention in big wave surfing. What do you think is the reason for this?
"The girls are going nuts! We're not holding back anymore!"

At Munich's Eisbach, Imogen proved that she is up for any challenge. Because river surfing is extremely different from surfing on the sea and yet she plunged straight into the water without training.

How did you like river surfing and how is it different from ocean surfing?
"It's so different! That was my first river surf experience and I actually had to struggle through it quite a bit. But it was a cool feeling and I really would have liked to spend more time there trying different boards."

Local Quirin Rohleder gave Imogen a good start with a few tips and before long the model was rocking the Eisbach.

Did you enjoy your time here in Germany and what are you taking away from the trip?
"This was my first trip to Germany and I am totally overwhelmed! I really wanted to see Munich and go surfing on the Eisbach. I also got to visit the recently opened KTM Motohall in Austria and do a few laps on one of their new Turning E-bikes."

How did you get into motocross biking?
"I grew up on a sheep farm, so a motorcycle was one of the first things I ever wanted - even before a surfboard. I love the feeling of being on a motorcycle. It's something that makes me very happy."
