Too bad for Lara Gut, many failures
Too bad, that would have been a great result: After the first intermediate time Lara Gut led 0.02 seconds ahead of the leading Swede Lindell-Vikarby and shortly afterwards slipped at one of the next gates, lost her grip and dropped out. Annoying. The challenging course had suited her well, she skied with determination, but it was not to be. But Lara Gut is not alone with the problem, already the starting number 1, Mikaela Shiffrin, dropped out and other prominent drivers such as Elisabeth Görgl or yesterday's winner Tina Weirather. Asked about her retirement, Lara Gut said in an interview with Swiss television that it was an inside ski mistake, which is why she rauffunkte to her teammates to stand on the outside skis, the failure was bitter, because she felt good and knew it could be a good result, but who goes faster, takes a greater risk and it does not take much. The course was set challenging, the slope sometimes icy, it takes little to become a victim of low friction and drop out.

Tina Maze, the best result of the season?
The first run will be pleasing from the point of view of Tina Maze, who should be more than satisfied with the current intermediate rank 6, even though she is already considerably behind the leader Tessa Worley. If she can be determined again in the second run, it will be the best result for her in the Giant Slalom this season.
